Written by Washington Twp Resident Mr. Gerald Keer
Television networks acting as jury, while they say almost anything to sell advertisements. Currently they are jumping through hoops to convict Judge Brett Kavanaugh with a single accusation, while we in the public wait to hear shoes drop. The accuser makes news with demands. NO REASON TO MOCK EVANGELICALS WITH CARTOONS; 'NEVER TRUMP' MEDIA SHOULD PROMOTE CHOICES
SOURCE: NJ.com South Jersey Times Letters
I am not sure whether Mike Luckovich's syndicated editorial cartoon depicting President Donald Trump administering Kool-Aid to a naked evangelical was supposed to be another put-down of the president, all Christians who share their faith, or both. The South Jersey Times printed the cartoon on its May 2 opinion page.

To the Editor:
The presidential campaign is the hot item in the news, but the South Jersey Times recently published another notable headline and story: "N.J. mom, 19, strangled newborn, police say," concerning an incident in Franklin Township last month. What seems to be lacking in news coverage is the statistical side of infant homicide rates. Killings of infants a week old or younger are most likely are committed by the mother. As children age, the involvement of a father or stepfather increases. When is the proper time to prosecute the killing of a child? Some Republicans have pressed for the reduction or complete withdrawal of government funding for Planned Parenthood, which uses other funding to perform abortions. READ MORE

On Aug. 27 the South Jersey Times print editorial page published an editorial originating at the Star-Ledger of Newark, "Look who benefits in trickle-down from tax cuts: Tom MacArthur." Referencing: MacArthur-backed tax cut may finally trickle down – to his own re-election campaign | Editorial Fret not! The ultra-rich are giving back: to a super PAC aligned with Speaker Paul Ryan. The editorial claims that substantial benefits the "ultra-wealthy" and their corporations received from the federal tax cuts backed by President Donald Trump last year are ending up in 2018 campaigns of Republican politicians, including U.S. Rep. To the Editor:
Centralization or decentralization of a tax collector in the county, or municipality, is overlooking the problem of spending tax dollars to figure out how many dollars can be assessed on properties. Monday's article in the South Jersey Times of county versus municipal tax collector is focused on who does the calculation and is the cost of calculation's shared costs efficient? Possibly. Are we looking for love in the wrong places?
Gloucester County in 2013 had experienced consultants, paid for with tax dollars that we paid, knocking on the doors and walking through our residences to find out what we have in our property. Based on their evaluation they set a value and the amount of taxes were reset. We in New Jersey spend state tax dollars to find the taxable value for tile floors, kitchen islands, refurbished bathrooms and clean rumpus rooms in the basement. By law, you already paid 7 percent sales tax on the labor and material. Now the consultants come to your private residence and visually assess the conditions that added to the overall value of your property. READ MORE
